You can have multiple entries and we are looking for the most funny, the best use of space, and the most shocking. Remember, if you are young and you couldn't show it to your parents, you better not make it. Last thing we want is for you to get in trouble, let alone us!!

Win AC:CF From NintendoWiiFanboy

By Gemini Ace

Looks like NintendoWiiFanboy decided to copy us and give away a copy of City Folk. Only they're about a month late to the party. I suppose we can forgive them, but only if one of our loyal listeners wins. Go sign up!

The Big N

By Gemini Ace

The news came out today that Nintendo sent journalists a pre-played version of Animal Crossing Wild World so they can see how the import feature works with City Folk. Unfortunately, the copy they used to send out had a sheep named Baabara that likes to call you a racial slur. And not the real slur, just the slang we hear in every rap song ever released.

Of course, the backlash has begun. Who doesn't want to be able to put Nintendo and racism in the same sentence and post it online? For all the faults of the friend code system, the one advantage it has over services like Xbox LIVE is that you will not be dropped into a room full of racists and bigots and be bombarded with epithets.

Until now.

Now, MTV Mulitiplayer blog and others want you to believe that the big N (irony, I bow to thee) is nothing more than a hate mongering corporate juggernaut. I honestly don't believe that this is the case. I personally believe that the employee responsible for giving Baabara that catch phrase either wanted to hurt Nintendo, or they didn't realize it would recieve such a negative reaction.

Obviously, how can you think that something like that wouldn't get a negative reaction? Well, what I think is offensive might not be offensive to you and vice versa. Even with a word such as...well...you know.

I'm not trying to make excuses for Nintendo. These things should be checked. Although I imagine that this game came from the PR firm, not Nintendo directly. Also, it is the journalist's right to cover this story, even though it feels to me like link baiting.

Nintendo puts in plenty of safeguards to protect their players from ever seeing anything offensive like this. The ESRB notice even states that the game will change when taken online. Having played Wild World (and now City Folk), I know your animals will move to different towns. In City Folk, Nintendo even warns you to be careful about the content you type into your letters because the animals will take them with them into their next town and show them off.

Bottom line is this. Play the game and be glad you're not playing Halo 3 and being called a...well...whatever. Any game that has user generated content or the ability to communicate with other people is going to have this problem.
